The house was restored over a three-year period during which the kitchen was updated. The streamlined Italian cabinetry allows the kitchen to feel fresh and bright, while antique green glass apothecary jars, bought in the Marché aux Puces in Paris, give an unexpectedly playful pop of colour. The 19th-century bread boards were found in Ireland. Martyn calls the overall effect like a jewel box. ALESSANDRA AMBROSIO T he Brazilian models home in Santa Monica dates to 1926 and is a Mediterranean-style villa. Her design brief for Martyn was to honour her Spanish architectural roots and also create a casually elegant space where she and her two children, Noah and Anja, could relax and entertain friends. Martyn brought a lot of colour, texture and life to the project, says Alessandra. An antique Indian rug brings texture to the otherwise white kitchen, while Todd Hase bar stools provide a comfortable spot to enjoy breakfast.
